Project Overview
Lincroft Academy is a co-educational secondary school in Bedford. In 2024, the creation of a new activity centre and dining area was completed, with a second phase involving a new music centre, library and additional classrooms.
Gaia worked with CPS on the first phase of the redevelopment project, delivering a tailored underfloor heating solution as part of the new activity centre and dining facilities.
As the project took place within a fast-moving educational programme, our team provided expert design and project management to ensure the underfloor heating system was delivered in line with structural timelines, mechanical services and the compressed programme.
We provided early engagement with the client and site teams, enabling effective coordination with slab-level works which minimised disruption to ongoing activities and maintained tightly-controlled site access.
This helped the project progress through key milestones to ensure Phase 1 was delivered on time and on budget.
The result was a robust, energy-efficient heating system that supports positive learning environments and enhanced thermal comfort for high-use communal spaces.

Testimonial
“Education projects demand careful coordination, particularly when construction is taking place around live school environments and strict delivery deadlines. For this project, it was great to work closely with CPS from the early stages of Phase 1 to design an underfloor heating solution that aligned with the programme’s structural and mechanical requirements while supporting the overall build schedule.”
