Project Overview
Monarch Point is a newly constructed five-storey building with 31 self-contained residential apartments, situated in suburban London with connections to Central London.
The Project Manager for this development recommended Gaia to the main contractor, M & Sons, as we had previously collaborated on a project for which we installed electric underfloor heating in apartments.
Having seen the ease with which it was designed and installed, the Project Manager identified an opportunity for Friern Road and commissioned the Gaia team to provide underfloor heating for this project.
The Friern Road project originally specified air source heat pumps (ASHPs) with wet underfloor heating, but installers struggled with space when fitting the ASHPs on the roofs, as well as the interconnecting pipework to each apartment. Therefore, electric underfloor heating was suggested as a suitable alternative.
The Gaia team installed electric underfloor heating into screed across 23 apartments in the development.
Electric underfloor heating is a great alternative to ASHPs when space is limited, offering an efficient and cost-effective solution for heating modern, well-insulated apartments, whilst still offering a premium heating system for residents.

Testimonial
“We had a large number of ASHP at our Friern Barnet project and were looking to reduce them as they are expensive to supply, install and maintain. So, we came up with using an electric UFH system rather than a wet system to reduce the amount of water that needs to be heated into the building. That’s when we found Gaia. Gaia’s electric UFH was perfect as it’s slim and efficient. Jenny in the sales team was amazing with making sure the specification and orders came on time. Plus, the installation team were great – installing with no delays!”
